Police: Bar Fight Leads to DWI Arrest

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office provided the following information. It does not indicate a conviction.

Authorities have charged a 42-year-old Mount Kisco man after he allegedly attempted to drive drunk following a dispute at a Brewster bar.

Police arrested Denis D. Mejia around 3 a.m May 6. He's facing a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated, officials from the said in a release Friday. 

Deputy Sheriff Frederick Mark made the arrest after he responded to a report of a fight-in-progress at a bar on Main Street in Brewster.

"Upon arrival, the deputy observed one of the participants in the fight attempting to leave the scene in a vehicle," police said.

Mark stopped Mejia and reportedly administered a series of standardized field sobriety tests before charging him. He was placed in the Putnam County Correctional Facility, where he awaited arraignment, according to officials.
