Police: Hypodermic Needle Discovered in Bread Loaf

A hypodermic needle was reportedly found inside a loaf of bread that was purchased at a Somers Stop & Shop supermarket, New York State police announced.

The discovery was reported Friday by a Mahopac woman, who contacted Carmel police that her 15-year-old found it while he was eating toast, police said. The bread, which police said is from Bimbo Bakeries, had been purchased Wednesday.

Both the supermarket and the bakery was told about the report, as well as New York State's Consumer Product Tampering database and Westchester County's department of health, police said.

Police also stated that people with information about the report can call 914-769-2600 to reach Investigator Cornelius Merritt.
