Police: Mahopac Man Drove Drunk on Motorcycle

State police recently arrested a 48-year-old Mahopac man who was driving a motorcycle with a blood-alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit, according to officials.

Troopers from the Stormville barracks arrested the man at about 9:10 p.m. Sunday on the Taconic State Parkway in Putnam Valley.

A member of the New York State Police collision reconstruction unit spotted the defendant traveling at a high rate of speed and stopped him, according to a press release. Another trooper carried out the investigation and the arrest as the first was requested at the scene of a serious crash on Oscawana Road in Putnam Lake.

The man's blood-alcohol level was 0.15 percent, police said. The legal limit is 0.08. He was released pending an Aug. 21 appearance in Putnam Valley Justice Court.
