A 16-year-old Patterson resident and an 18-year-old Southeast resident are each facing a misdemeanor following a recent theft, according to authorities.
The arrest came on May 12, when Deputy Sheriff Scott Lombardo responded to a report of a larceny at a Patterson resident, according to a report released Wednesday by Donald B. Smith. The homeowner told officials that a lawn ornament and balloons were taken from the front yard of the home, and that the "suspects fled" in a gold SUV.
"While enroute to the complaint, the deputy observed a gold SUV in traffic on Bullet Hole Road and noticed balloons inside the vehicle," Smith said in the statement. "The deputy initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle and determined that the two subjects had stolen the property. The homeowner arrived at the scene to identify the property, and indicated that he wished to press charges against the two suspects."
Each defendant faces a misdemeanor count of petit larceny, and will be expected in Patterson Justice Court at a later date. They were both processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility before police released them to their respective parents.
