Carmel Police: Man Wanted on Warrant Faces Rape Charge

The defendant was sent to jail on $100,000 bail.

A 32-year-old man who was wanted by the Carmel Police Department in connection with an incident at an area rehabilitation facility has been charged with rape, officials say.

Carmel Police Department Det. Joseph LoPiccolo and Officer Brian Shay arrested Roberto Clavell Saturday, according to a recently released statement.

"[They] responded to New York City Police Department Central Booking in Brooklyn on a report that NYPD had apprehended a turnstile jumper who was also wanted on an arrest warrant by Carmel Police," authorities said.

That warrant is reportedly connected to a Nov. 29, 2012 incident at an area drug treatment center.

Clavell, who police say is "apparently homeless," is facing two felony charges: third-degree criminal sex act and third-degree rape.

Following arraignment before Carmel Town Justice Thomas Jacobellis, Clavell was sent to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail pending a future court appearance.

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.
