Police Say Man Had 2 Unregistered Handguns

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a 58-year-old Putnam Valley resident on criminal charges stemming from his alleged possession of two unregistered handguns.

On March 7, 2014, investigators from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Westchester County District Attorney’s Office went to a home on Mill Pond Road to execute a search warrant at that residence.

Upon conducting the search of the premises, investigators found two unregistered handguns. Although the resident possessed a valid pistol permit, the weapons, described as two semi-automatic pistols were not registered on the permit and as a result were seized.
