Police say they found a hypodermic needle and heroin on a 24-year-old Southeast resident who was driving through Brewster this weekend.
Troopers from the Southeast barracks of the New York State Police arrested Christopher S. Fasano at about 9:50 p.m. Saturday on East Main Street. They initially stopped him because the 2012 Volkswagen Gulf he was operating lacked a front license plate, officials told Patch.
During the stop, the defendant reportedly told police he was carrying a needle. They subsequently discovered a "small amount of heroin," authorities said Monday.
Fasano is facing the following misdemeanors: possession of a hypodermic instrument and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Officials released Fasano, pending a Sept. 24 appearance in Brewster Justice Court.
