Police Use Dogs in Search for Northern Westchester Bank Robber [UPDATED]

Police: Man said he had a weapon, got away with cash.

Yorktown and Westchester County police officers used search dogs to comb the Jefferson Valley area in search of a man who robbed a TD Bank branch Monday evening.

Yorktown police confirmed that a man who threatened he had a weapon got away with cash in a robbery at the bank just off Route 6. Yorktown Police Lt. Richard Malan said the man passed a note to the teller saying he had a handgun.

The man was last seen heading east on Bank Road in the area of the Toys R Us Yorktown and Westchester County Department of Public Safety dogs were used in an attempt to track the man but the scent was lost on Bank Road, police said. 

Police said the bank was open at the time of the robbery with several employees and at least one customer inside the bank. No weapon was displayed and no one was injured during the robbery around 4:50 p.m.

Police did not reveal the amount of cash taken in the robbery from the bank, which is located at 3660 Lee Boulevard.

The man, whose pictures police have now released, fled the scene on foot, police said. He is described as a white male in his 30s, between 5'7 to 5’10 tall with a slim. He was build wearing a tan colored baseball cap and dark colored Nautica jacket.
