A single-vehicle crash in Carmel led to the recent arrest of a Putnam Valley resident, who authorities say drove drunk with a child in the car.
Carmel Police Officer Louis Lopreato arrested Beth Meehan, 43, at about 10 p.m. Saturday. She lost control of the vehicle she was operating and hit a tree on Woodland Road, officials say. After conducting field sobriety tests, cops found her to be intoxicated, according to reports.
Meehan is facing a felony charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, as well as the following misdemeanors: second-degree reckless endangerment, driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated. That last charge typically comes with a blood-alcohol content of 0.18 percent or higher. The legal limit is 0.08.
Police released the defendant pending an Oct. 2 appearance in Carmel Justice Court.
