Putnam Lake Bank Robbed Again

It's the third bank robbery in the area in recent weeks.

State Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the man who robbed the Putnam County National Bank in Putnam Lake Thursday morning. The same bank was robbed less than two weeks ago.

Police said the man, who was white, was wearing blue jeans, white sneakers, a blue winter hat and a dark nylon jacket with white stripes under his arms.

He entered the bank around 9:30 a.m. and demanded cash. He wore a mask and ordered everyone to lie on the floor, Terence Corcoran writes in this LoHud.com report.

The man fled to a parking lot adjacent to the bank, which is located on Haviland Drive. He drove off in an "unknown type white sedan on Fairfield Drive towards the State of Connecticut," according to authorities.

Officials did not disclose how much money he made off with.

Police ask anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 845-279-8656 or 845-677-7300.

People's United Bank on Route 22 in Lakeview Plaza was robbed Dec. 23.
