Putnam Sheriff Promotes Former Brewster SRO

Scott Lombardo, a 15-year veteran with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, is now a sergeant in the department.

Lombardo received the promotion earlier this month. He started his career as a corrections officer at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and went on to become a deputy sheriff in the patrol division.

"Among the duties he performed over the years, Sergeant Lombardo was a member of the marine patrol, the motorcycle unit and served as a school resource officer assigned to the Henry H. Wells Middle School in Brewster for approximately three years," authorities said in a statement. "Additionally, he is a trained fire investigator.

As a sergeant, Lombardo is now responsible for supervising members of the patrol division and overseeing daily activities of the deputies in his squad.

"We are proud to promote Sergeant Lombardo," Sheriff Donald B. Smith said. "He possesses the personal and professional traits necessary to be an effective law enforcement leader. Having received a vast array of training, he is well prepared to react to any emergency and supervise deputies in their assigned duties.”
