I was trying to get to the Patterson Library from Rt 22 and was turned back just before the bridge over the Croton River around 6:30. The sheriff's deputy, carrying a rather large assault rifle, told me there had been "an incident" in town, but declined to say anything more other than "everyone was safe" and that the library on 311 was closed and being used as a staging ground. A clerk at the A&P on 311/22 told me she'd heard it was a bomb threat.

Thank you so much for the information, Lavender. I'm going to share part of your comment on Facebook, as a few readers there have questions.

I appreciate you posting the article in the first place. I looked at all the local news sources around to see if I could get more information (such as where the bomb threat was) and only the Patch has reported on it, thus far. Keep up the good work!

I was on my way to pick my daughter up from Tots n Us at 4:45 pm, when they called me to tell me the daycare was evacuated to another school and the kids were okay. No details, generic info. A few minutes later up 311, The sheriff deputy lady with a huge rifle informed me that I couldn't stay on 311, and would have to detou r around town, just a precaution, no details. 45 min later. Arriving at the other school to pick my daughter up, an officer at this location told me it was a bomb scare, no injuries. Came on here to get more info, but it seems there is nothing at this time. Hugging my daughter a little tighter tonight.

Wanted to add that my daughter was fine and oblivious, so I'm glad the daycare handled it well, and contacted me so fast. I would have had much greater concerns if I had been detoured with no information. Evacuation news would have been much scarier. So Tots gets a thumbs up in my book.

Everything was cleared up this morning and I am glad everyone was safe. On reflection, if it was a bomb threat or suspicious package why was the MTA train service allowed to continue to run right by area?

Any other details on what actually happened greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark and J. Thank you for the comments. I've put in a call and emails to Sheriff's officials. Generally they release statements via email, but I will continue to try and follow up, and I'll be sure to share what I find.

It would be nice to know what actually happened. I live in the house right next door to Tots, and while the sheriffs were very nice and helpful in me getting my kids and getting home, they wouldn't say anything as to what was going on, just that there was an incident at town hall and to keep the kids inside. Then we start getting emails and texts from family and friends asking us if we are ok because there are rumors of bombs and hostages. It was worrisome not to know what was going on and that of we were safe, especially finding out at about 6 that tots was evacuated.

Hi Carrie. That does sound very worrisome. I am working on obtaining the full story, and I will post the information I obtain.

Ashley- I was at Front St. Gallery near the train station and a "suspicious character" came in about 2pm asking if I knew when the next train to the city arrived. I looked it up for him on the internet; he told me he was up here for "the Court." He just seemed like a strange dude, strange accent, and he came to mind when I heard about the incident. Let me know if you think anyone official would like to hear about this.

Just in case anyone missed it, here's the follow-up: http://southeast.patch.com/articles/man-s-behavior-at-patterson-town-hall-sparks-suspicion-leads-to-lockdown. J. Wolf, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to pass the information along. Thanks for reading!
