Sheriff: Brewster Man with Revoked License Drove Drunk

He was held at the Putnam County Correctional Facility pending arraignment.

A 21-year-old Brewster man is facing misdemeanor and felony charges following a recent arrest in the Village, officials say.

Deputy Thomas Lee of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office arrested Victor M. Mazariegos at about 3:30 a.m. Monday, according to a statement released this week.

Lee stopped Mazariegos on Route 6 in Brewster after the defendant committed a traffic violation, police said. The deputy found the defendant to be intoxicated, and later discovered his license had been revoked, the release states.

The Sheriff's Office generally does not release blood-alcohol levels, as they may be considered evidentiary.

Mazariegos is facing a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated and a felony charge of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree. He was held at the Putnam County Correctional Facility pending arraignment.

Authorities say the maximum sentence for the felony charge is up to four years behind bars and a fine of up to $5,000.00.

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.
