A 39-year-old Queens man who worked at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel is accused of stealing medical items from the facility during his weekend shifts, police say.
Investigator Thomas Corless from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office arrested Ernest A. Cruz of East Elmhurst earlier this month following a five-month investigation, during which he and hospital security worked together.
Cruz, who worked in the facility's radiology department, is facing a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny. He was released without bail pending a Jan. 29 appearance in Carmel Justice Court.
Authorities did not provide a value for the stolen supplies.
