Sheriff: Patterson Man Arrested Twice in One Day

A 36-year-old Patterson man is facing misdemeanor charges after being involved in a domestic incident, endangering the welfare of a child and violating a court order, officials said.

The incident began at about 3:30 a.m. Friday when Deputy Sheriff Vincent Dalo responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Front Street in Patterson. When he arrived he discovered that the defendant had kicked and pulled out the hair of his domestic partner.

"The deputy further determined that the dispute had occurred in the presence of the couple’s daughter, who had left the residence in order to seek assistance from neighbors," authorities from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

He was arraigned later that morning at the Patterson Justice Court and released. Justice Anthony Molé issued an order of protection prohibiting the defendant from contacting the victim.

Less than two hours later Deputy Sheriff Matthew Monroe was dispatched to a report of a dispute in progress at the same Front Street address. He found the defendant "yelling and screaming at his victim" on the sidewalk, thereby violating the order of protection, according to police.

The defendant was also reportedly carrying pot. He was arrested again, this time on charges of second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. He was processed at jail and held pending arraignment.
