An 18-year-old from Kent is due in Southeast Justice Court later this month to answer a charge in connection with the theft of a payroll check from a Southeast grocery store.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office received the complaint Jan. 22, 2013. Investigator John Alfano of the department's Bureau of Criminal Investigation took the case and gathered information that led to the defendant. Authorities say she stole the $484.54 check from a co-worker at the business.
Officials arrested the defendant late last month on a warrant from the Southeast Justice Court. She's facing a misdemeanor charge of petty larceny.
Following arraignment before Justice Gregory Folchetti, the defendant was released. She is due back Nov. 21.
