Police say they plan to crack down on drivers who neglect to change lanes and decrease their speed when they pass emergency responders stopped along the road.
Officials at the announced Tuesday that the agency plans to conduct details that enforce New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 1144A—better known as the — throughout the county in the near future.
Last week, police say a detail in Garrison yielded 20 tickets in one hour for failure to comply with the law.
The bill went into effect in January of 2011. It is aimed at protecting law enforcement personnel and emergency responders who are working on roadways.
