Southeast Women Face Felony Charges Over Jewelry Theft

Police say the two were guests at a local home.

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of two Southeast (NY) residents on felony charges stemming from their alleged involvement in the theft of jewelry from a Brewster residence.

Kiana Marie Cable of 219 Tonetta Lake Road and Kelly Ann Debenedetto of 26 Carillon Road, both 19 years-old, were arrested by Investigator John Alfano of the Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation after he conducted an investigation into the reported theft of jewelry from a private residence. His probe revealed that the pair was at the complainant’s home as an invited guest on August 15, 2013, when they allegedly took jewelry and sold it at two local precious metal dealers where it was eventually recovered.

Ms. Cable, arrested on March 27th and Ms. Debenedetto arrested on March 28th were charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, both class “E” felony crimes. They were arraigned before Southeast Town Justice Gregory Folchetti acting on behalf of the Village of Brewster Court. Ms. Cable was released without bail while Ms. Debenedetto was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond. She was later released after posting the required bail. They are scheduled to appear in court on April 14th at 5:00PM.
