Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office provided the following information. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 21-year-old Bethel, CT man is facing a misdemeanor drug charge after police say he drove through Southeast while carrying a controlled substance.

According to reports from the , Deputy Edward Kennedy arrested Eric D. Oldendorf around 1:20 a.m. Thursday on Route 6. Kennedy stopped the defendant after he allegedly committed a traffic violation. 

During the stop, police say, the deputy found Oldendorf to be in possession of drugs. Officials did not release specifics in their report. Kennedy charged Oldendorf with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor. 

After being processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and posting $250 bail, the defendant was released. He is due in Southeast Justice Court on April 12.
