Troopers: Carmel Man Drove Drunk Through Brewster

A 27-year-old Carmel man is facing a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop in the Village of Brewster, officials say.

Troopers from the Southeast barracks arrested the man at about 2:05 a.m. Aug. 11. They stopped him on North Main Street because he was traveling without illuminated tail lights, according to authorities.

The defendant's blood-alcohol level was 0.12 percent, police said. A driving while intoxicated charge typically indicates a blood-alcohol level of at least 0.08 percent.

The man is due in Village of Brewster Justice Court Tuesday (Aug. 20).
