Troopers: Carmel Teen Faces Drug Charge After Hitting 95 MPH

An 18-year-old from Carmel is facing a misdemeanor drug charge after police stopped her for speeding on Interstate 84 in Southeast, officials said.

State police from the East Fishkill barracks made the arrest at about 4:50 p.m. Nov. 20. She was discovered to be "in possession of marihuana and a controlled substance when she was stopped by troopers for traveling in excess of 95 miles per hour," according to authorities.

Police charged the defendant with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. She is due in court Dec. 5.
