Troopers Charge Mahopac Man with DWI

State police charged a 27-year-old Mahopac man, who they stopped for speeding, with drunken driving over the weekend.

Troopers from the Poughkeepsie barracks made the arrest in LaGrange at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday. They stopped the defendant after observing his vehicle travel at a "high rate of speed" on Route 55. He reportedly failed field sobriety tests.

Police charged the man with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. His blood-alcohol level was 0.12 percent, according to authorities. The legal limit is 0.08.

The defendant is due in LaGrange Justice Court today (Aug. 27).
