Troopers Charge Woman with Aggravated DWI

Police in Southeast stopped her because she was driving on the shoulder of the roadway, police say.

A 23-year-old Ridgefield, CT woman is facing misdemeanor charges after she allegedly drove with a blood-alcohol level that was more than twice the legal limit, according to authorities.

Troopers from the East Fishkill barracks charged Christina G. Handshy with misdemeanor aggravated driving while intoxicated and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. Police say her blood-alcohol level was 0.20 percent. The legal limit is 0.08.

Handshy was reportedly driving a 2006 Toyota on the shoulder of the roadway when police stopped her on Danbury Road in Southeast at about 2:25 a.m. Saturday.

The defendant was released pending a future appearance in Southeast Justice Court.
