Troopers: I-84 Driver Had High Blood-Alcohol Level

A 23-year-old Brookfield, CT man is accused of getting behind the wheel while intoxicated and driving through Southeast, according to police.

State troopers from the East Fishkill barracks made the arrest at about 3:35 a.m. Sunday on eastbound Interstate 84.

The defendant "was found to be intoxicated when troopers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle he was operating for traveling in excess of 75 mph in a 55-mph zone," authorities said in a statement.

The man's blood-alcohol level was reportedly 0.17-percent. The legal limit is 0.08. Police charged him with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and released him pending a Dec. 17 appearance in Southeast Justice Court.
