Troopers: Speeding, Head-on Collision Lead to DWI Arrests

The New York State Police provided the following information. It does not indicate any convictions.

Over the weekend, officials from the East Fishkill and  barracks arrested the following individuals:

  • Danbury, CT resident Yessica Urena-Almonte, 22. Troopers stopped her around 5:40 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 84 (I-84) eastbound in the Town of Southeast. Police said they stopped Urena-Almonte, who was operating a 1998 Acura TL, for speeding. Her blood-alcohol level was reportedly 0.15. The legal limit is 0.08. The defendant is facing a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated. Officials released her pending a May 16 appearance in Southeast Justice Court.
  • Danbury, CT resident Patricia Reyes, 24. Troopers stopped Reyes around 5 a.m. Saturday on I-84 eastbound. Police said she was operating a 2003 Honda Accord and speeding. Her blood-alcohol level was reportedly 0.08. She is facing a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated. Officials released Reyes pending a May 24 appearance in Southeast Justice Court.
  • Peekskill resident Salvador Mixcoatl, 23. At approximately 10:15 p.m. Friday on Route 22 in Southeast, the defendant was involved in a head-on collision, according to officials. Police said the crash occurred after the Dodge Mixcoatl was operating reportedly crossed the double yellow line and struck an oncoming 2012 Toyota. Further information on the vehicles was not available Monday afternoon. According to authorities, both sedans were towed, and Mixcoatl was transported to with non-life-threatening injuries. The other driver did not sustain injuries. Mixcoatl was released that day. Police charged him with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated and released him pending an appearance in Southeast Justice Court Tuesday. Police said they are waiting on a blood test for a blood-alcohol level.
  • Shelton, CT resident Matthew J. Ahern, 56. Troopers stopped Ahern, who was operating a 2012 Mercury Mountaineer, on I-84 eastbound in Southeast around 10:40 p.m. Thursday. Police said Ahern was speeding. His blood-alcohol level was reportedly 0.13. He is facing a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated. Officials released the defendant pending an appearance in Southeast Justice Court Tuesday.

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.
