Troopers: Woman Pushed From Car During Fight with Husband

Police say the couple's 1-year-old was in the vehicle at the time.

A Carmel man is in jail without bail after his wife was thrown from their vehicle during a physical argument, according to New York State Police.

Police said Jeffrey Hanlon, 41, is facing second-degree assault, with additional charges pending, after he attacked his wife as they traveled on Route 22 in Croton Falls with their 1-year-old.

Police received the call for the incident around 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to reports from the New York State Police. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found a 40-year-old Mahopac woman, who had reportedly been pushed from a moving vehicle.

Responders transported the victim—who suffered bruises and scrapes from the fall, as well as a fractured nose from the assault—to Putnam Hospital Center, officials said.

"She stated that after being repeatedly assaulted by him, she was pushed out of their vehicle [a 2001 Acura] ... and that her husband fled from the scene heading north," police said in a statement. "The victim stated that her husband made suicidal statements as he was fleeing."

After the dispute, Hanlon reportedly left the child, who police say was unharmed, with a relative before heading to a residence in the Bronx.

Members of the New York City Police Department's 45th Precinct took Hanlon into custody and transferred him to the State Police. He was arraigned before North Salem Town Justice Ralph Mackin and sent to the Westchester County Jail with no bail. He is due in court on Monday.
