Ball, Wagner Race: Small Chunk of Westchester Votes Still Unavailable

Unofficial numbers suggest a 4,000-vote lead, across all three counties, for the incumbent.

Results from the 15 percent of Westchester County districts not reporting results in the race for District 40 of the New York State Senate will be available Nov. 15, elections officials say.

Across the board, Greg Ball's (R, C, I) lead over Justin Wagner (D, Working Families) appears to be about 4,000 votes. The incumbent declared himself the winner late Tuesday, while Wagner's camp said they are waiting for official numbers. Read their full statements here.

The Westchester Board of Elections has frozen its results—which show a varying number of districts reporting for a range of matchups—as workers recanvass the votes. The organization's website shows Wagner with 36,334 votes (52 percent) and Ball with 33,328 (48 percent).

The district covers parts of Dutchess and Putnam too, where unofficial results show Ball with a majority of votes: 5,161 (61.382 percent) and 14,741 (60.271 percent), respectively. Wagner took 3,243 (38.570 percent) and 9,704 (39.676), respectively.

When asked for an estimate of the number of votes missing in the 15 percent of districts not reporting, a staff member at the Westchester BOE was unable to provide a figure. Because the machines in those districts experienced issues, officials cannot determine how many votes were issued until the recount is complete, she said.

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.
