FEMA Extends Deadline for Applying for Assistance

The latest deadline is now in late-January.

Still need to register for disaster assistance from Hurricane Sandy?

The deadline in 13 New York counties, including Putnam County, has been extended to Jan. 28, 2013.

The extension, agreed upon by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state, is for survivors living in disaster-designated individual assistance counties: Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, Orange, Putnam, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester.

Assistance for individuals and families can include money for rental accommodations, essential home repairs, personal property losses and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance.

Individuals can register online at www.disasterassistance.gov or via smartphone or table at m.fema.gov.

Applicants may also call 1-800-621-3362 or (TTY) 1-800-462-7585. If using 7-1-1 Relay or Video Relay Services, call 1-800-621-3362. The toll-free numbers operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until further notice.

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.
