He's served on the Putnam County Legislature, and as the deputy supervisor for the Town of Southeast.

Southeast resident Victor Grossman, an attorney whose 34 years of experience includes working with several local organizations, is running for the New York State Supreme Court.

In accordance with "court rules," Grossman, 61, has stepped down from his post as chairman of the Putnam County Democratic Committee as he pursues the 9th Judicial District, according to a statement released Monday. The district includes Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.

The Carmel attorney serves as counsel for the Putnam County Land Trust. The organization selected Grossman as its 2013 Blue Heron Award recipient "for his role in helping to preserve over 800 acres of open space."
