Village to Hold Informational Meeting on Blight Study Wednesday Night

Clerk Peter Hansen sent the following via email.

The Village of Brewster recently conducted a and some properties were identified as being in a designated blight area.

Blighted areas may become part of an Urban Renewal Plan or Project, which may ultimately involve the condemnation of properties located in a designated blight area and the relocation of residents and/or businesses located therein.

While the Blight Determination Study was conducted in accordance with Open Meetings Law, duly noticed and adhering to appropriate sections of the Urban Renewal Law, we reached out to affected property owners through a letter to ensure they have an opportunity to learn more about what this designation means and what might happen in the future.

To accomplish that goal, we are holding an informational meeting on Feb. 8, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at  (50 Main Street in Brewster). The focus of this meeting is to address this matter specifically with the owners of properties identified as being located in a designated blight area.

If you would care to review the study narrative prior to the meeting a link to the Blight Determination Study as accepted by the Board of Trustees is on the home page of our website in the "Newsletter" area, the exact link being:

http://www.brewstervillage-ny.gov/images/stories/pdfs/information/Final_112211.pdf

The complete Blight Study, including all the Property Survey Data Sheets, is available in Village Hall for review in our offices between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Mondays through Friday, excluding holidays.

We encourage affected property owners to attend this meeting to learn more about how your property may be affected.

The general public is also welcome.

This is NOT A PUBLIC HEARING, but rather an informational session for property owners in blighted areas as identified in the Blight Determination Study.

Meeting Time:          7:30 p.m.

Meeting Location:    Village Hall

                                    50 Main Street

The building is owned and operated by the Town of Southeast. All people in the Village of BrewsterRead More pay taxes to the Town of Southeast.

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.
