“Responding to the Opioid Addiction Epidemic” Seminar

The Putnam County Communities That Care Coalition is happy to announce that we will be bringing back Dr. Kolodny, the Chief Medical Officer from Phoenix House on Friday, May 2nd. Dr. Kolodny oversees the substance use clinical practices for Phoenix House nationwide. The last time we had him in 2012, the response was tremendous and he is graciously donating his time to come back and talk about the opioid epidemic with us. This seminar is part of our continued mission to provide education on prescription drug use and opioid use.

Objectives:
1. Inform learners about the epidemic of opioid overdose deaths and addiction.
2. Discuss factors that may have caused the epidemic
3. Review strategies for bringing the epidemic under control.

Opening remarks by Coalition Co-Chairperson and
Deputy Commissioner of Mental Health/Social Services/Youth Bureau Joseph DeMarzo
