BE the Surprise! Hearts, Pets and YOU.

Valentines day is tomorrow and sometimes we have a tendency to think that our significant other must give us a gift, or take us to an expensive restaurant, or buy us a new piece of jewelry! And no, this is not only a requirement of women. However, I would beg to ask you...when is the last time your significant other just gave you a gift or went above and beyond for you...JUST BECAUSE?

We need to have a lot more "just because" in our relationships, not only our intimate relationships but our work relationships, our friendship relationships, our interaction with the cashier at the local store relationships. Why can't we go above and beyond and tell the person who is pumping our gas that they are awesome and we really appreciate them? Why can't we just come home and give our spouse a surprise trip to the local bed & breakfast? Not for any special occasion, but just because? For those who are doing this already with active work lives or children...:applause:.

Dogs are great at going above and surprising us when we least expect it. After you come home from a long day at work your pet will have ripped up the garbage for you in search of a nice morsel you left there from last night's dinner. Or your cat may deposit a dead mouse at your door and walk away as if the catch was just another episode in the life. If our pets can surprise us more often than not, as humans a personal goal of ours may be to: BE the surprise in the lives others!

You know. I'm going to try that this week and let you know how it goes. You never know whose life you may touch :)

Stay safe in this snow and as we approach Valentines day, BE the surprise for your partner, or BE the surprise for yourself and challenge the regularity with something fresh and new without prompting from the USA calendar.
