What Does the End of the Week Mean To You?

What does the end of the week mean to you? For some it is a time to party, forget about work for two days and to others it is the start of another career pursuit! I challenge you (hey, I challenge myself too!) to focus on the week which has gone by and to focus on yourself first.

What do I use my weekends for? Relaxation and spending time with my close friends and family. However, even spending time with others can become taxing. Every time we are in contact with another person we are giving away a bit of ourselves. If you are always giving without filling your tank it is possible to run out of true care! It is important to forget about everything even for a few hours and focus on renewal. For me, there is nothing like sitting on the couch, listening to my favorite music on Pandora (Vashawn Mitchell station...sometimes I get up and dance) with my roommate's cat named Kitty curled up beside me and a good book to read. There is something about stroking a cat's little furry head which brings about a sense of calm.

I urge you this weekend to recharge, refocus and really understand your purpose in life, where you are going and how you are going to take steps to get there. Sometimes in the blur of life and in the heavy responsibilities of the week we can lose sight of our big picture. Get out in nature despite the weather, take your dog or if you are around cats like me, take yourself on a walk. There are some great parks in this area and one of my favorites is Nuclear Trail as I have mentioned in the past. Clear your mind and focus on how all of those little things you do add up to your big picture. If the little things you are doing do not add some piece of the puzzle to your big picture then it is time for the kitty litter tray!

Nature is a perfect way to get in touch with yourself physically and mentally. Take this weekend. Even if it is just one day...or a few hours in a day. Take it as a gift to yourself. Make sure you add up and have enough in your tank of care to give back to others. You are worth it!
