Timothy Conway, who has worked aside Brewster Superintendent Dr. Jane Sandbank as deputy superintendent and assistant superintendent for business, will step into the role of interim superintendent when Sandbank retires in January 2014.
The board of education made the appointment at a meeting earlier this month.
Conway has worked for the district for nine years. He often provides updates at meetings on topics that range from annual budgets to construction projects to Garden Street School.
His experience in financial management includes positions at the Middletown City School District and the New York State Comptroller’s Office.
Sandbank is set to retire Jan. 2, 2014.
