4/17/12 - The Brewster Bears defeated the Pioneers of Poughkeepsie today by the score of 13-6. Brewster banged out 16 hits on the day. Matt Ghelarducci and Garrett Longhurst were both 3 for 4 and Sean Henderson and John Ferris were both 2 for 3 on the day.
Ghelarducci and Ferris each had three RBI's and Henderson knocked in 2 RBI's.
"It was a good day at the plate for a lot of the players today," said Coach Ed Mulvihill. "We had a good approach and worked hard to put the ball in play."
Brewster jumped out to a 6-0 lead after 2 innings but Poughkeepsie fought back to make the score 6-5.
Bears Beat Lourdes
4/16/12 - The Brewster Bears defeated the Warriors for Our Lady of Lourdes today by the score of 4-3.
Brewster trailed 1-0 for the first 3 innings in a tough pitchers duel.
"I thought both pitchers had great control and were tough today," said Coach Mulvihill. Brewster got on the board in the fifth inning when Sean Florenz got on base with an error and Sean Henderson knocked him in for the RBI.
In the 6th inning Brewster put together a string of hits to score a couple of runs. Chris Waters and Sean Florenz started off with singles. Garrett Longhurst and Henderson continued the barrage and Brewster led 3-2. Lourdes tied the score in the bottom of the 6th but Brewster went ahead on a long double by Sean Fitzgerald in the top of the seventh and James Cundari came on to shut the door for the save.
"Both Mark Bentson and Cundari pitched wonderfully for us today," said Coach Mulvihill.
