Sleepy Hollow's Issiah Sanjuan must feel like he's dreaming.
The junior running back and defensive back made a big play on defense, and another a minute later on offense—with less than two minutes in the game to win the Class A Semifinal matchup at Brewster High School on Saturday afternoon.
With less than two minutes remaining in the game and the ball in Brewster's possession, Sleepy Hollow's chances of overcoming an 11-point deficit seemed dismal.
But as Brewster tried to run out the clock, Sanjuan scooped up a fumble and raced some 50 yards to the endzone. As the sidelines echoed with screams of "It ain't over yet," Sleepy Hollow completed a two-point conversion to cut the score to 21-18.
Brewster recovered the ensuing on-side kick but failed to run out the clock. With 30 seconds remaining, Sleepy Hollow got the ball back near midfield. Horsemen quarterback Devin Lopez dropped back and hurled the ball downfield to Sanjuan, who hauled it in for an unbelievable touchdown to give Sleepy Hollow the 24-21 victory.
