Welcome to Patch's daily snapshot of sports in Brewster.
Brewster boys win
We thank Brewster boys hoop student manager/statistician extraordinaire Drew Podgorski for providing the stats for this update:
Jack Dignan and Mike Bonilla make one heck of a duo for the No. 10 Brewster boys basketball squad and showed why in its opening round Section 1 Class A playoff contest at Saunders.
Dignan registered a game-high 23 points and Bonilla contributed 16 huge points in the Bears' thrilling 61-60 triumph at the Yonkers-based school.
Brewster will now play at No. 2 Peekskill in the quarterfinals Wednesday, Feb. 22 at a time to be announced.
The winners of each quarterfinal contest will advance to the Section 1 Final Four at the Westchester County Center in White Plains Feb. 27-March 4.
Brewster girls hoops
No. 13 Brewster was led by Rory Stark's 13 points in the Bears' 54-44 loss at Albertus Magnus in the opening round of the Section 1 Class A playoffs Feb. 17.
