Blues & BBQ in Patterson; History and Music in Brewster

There are tons of ways to keep busy around Brewster and Southeast this weekend, and we're here to help you decide which happenings are for you. Here are the details for three great events (click on the links for more information). Scroll down to the end of this article for information on a few more.

Concerts Around the Corner, American Music and Local History: Concert, Lecture and Exhibit
When: 3 p.m. Sunday
Where: The Studio Around the Corner at 67 Main Street in Brewster
Why go: This is the second of the 2013 Concerts Around the Corner series. It will feature American music for strings and piano and relics from the Southeast Museum. Plus, hear historical narration by Amy Campanaro, the museum's director.


Patterson Rotary Club's “Blues & BBQ Festival” Fundraiser
When: Noon to 7 p.m. Saturday
Where: The Patterson Fire House at 13 Burdick Road in Patterson
Why go: In its second year, this event features lots of local musicians, a car show and plenty to eat and drink—from beer and wine to burgers to ice cream. Expect performances by the Second Saturday Band, Alternate Universe Band, and Guys Night Out, plus special guests Chris Eminizer and Scott Beall. There will be activities and rides for the kids, too. The Patterson Rotary Club is organizing the event. 


Putnam County Land Trust Annual Meeting/Madava Sugar Maple Lecture
When: 4 p.m. Sunday
Where: PCLT headquarters at 63 Cobb Road in Southeast
Why go: If you're interested in learning about conservation of lands as working forests, this meeting is for you. You'll hear from Tyge Rugenstein, the chief operating officer of Madava Farms in Dover Plains. Organization officials will also review the past year and discuss what to expect this year.
