The Town of Southeast Offices houses the Building and Planning departments, as well as the Zoning Enforcement andMore Special Districts offices. Southeast Parking and the fire inspector also share the building, which was erected in 1886 as the First National Bank of Brewsters.  </p> <p>The Building Department's purpose is to ensure that both local and state structural regulations are met through inspections and the review of permit plans. Permit applicants may also be sent to the Planning Department and the Zoning Board of Appeals. Michael J. Levine heads the department as building inspector.  </p> <p>The Special Districts Department is responsible for the handling of the operation and payment of several special districts' water and sewer functions. Levon Bedrosian is the department's administrator.</p> <p>Residents can also visit the building for Southeast Parking, where annual and semiannual parking permits can be purchased for the train station and the "Gold Lot."</p> <p>Fire Inspector Kenneth Clair is responsible for meeting the state's standard of yearly public inspections, as well as inspections of dangerous occupancies.</p>

Taconic Developmental Disabilities Services Office offers residential services for the developmentally disabled. ItMore runs 11 group homes, eight in Putnam and three in Dutchess counties. The parent agency is the state Office of Persons With Developmental Disabilities, or OPWDD. </p> <p>Jim Doddemeade runs this local office and has more than 24 years in the field. The OPWDD has operated in Putnam for more than 30 years and in this location for more than seven years. </p> <p>This office also specializes in services that treat Prader-Willi Syndrome, a genetic disorder that may cause uncontrollable appetites. It also runs a day program, called Day Habilitative Services, in Pawling. This program helps persons with developmental disabilities to develop skills used in day-to-day living. The program also conducts field trips and organized activities in the community. </p>

The department features a marine unit, a narcotics enforcement unit, a civil bureau, a school resource officer and additional specialized units. The department's territory is county-wide, so at times it works with the State Police or different village police departments. Residents can visit the office to report crimes, incidents and domestic abuse or to inquire about pistol permits. The Sheriff's Department is attached to the Correctional Facility, which employs 57 correction officers.

Visitors can make suggestions orMore voice their complaints to the Town Supervisor, and they can also receive advice on a number of different issues at this and other offices.</p> <p>At the tax receiver's office, residents can pay their county, town and school taxes, either in person or by mail. The assessor's office is responsible for keeping the assessed values of properties in the town at a fair market value annually.
