Officials: Patterson Dentist Owes $220,000 in Back Taxes

A 56-year-old Patterson dentist is due in court later this month on felony charges after he failed to pay several hundred thousand dollars in income taxes, according to officials.

Harrison Boldt, of Somerset Drive, surrendered himself Oct. 24 at the Town of New Castle Police Department, according to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.

"The defendant failed to file New York State personal income tax returns for 2008, 2009, 2010 and failed to remit payment in 2011, the court documents charge," officials said. "The defendant owes the state a total of $220,200."

Authorities charged him with four counts of criminal tax fraud and one count of repeated failure to file personal income tax returns, all felonies. Boldt was arraigned before Justice Noah Sorkin and released pending a Nov. 21 court appearance.

The tax department's criminal investigations division conducted the investigation. The Westchester County District Attorney's office is prosecuting the case.

Businesses and individuals who "voluntarily meet their tax responsibilities" pay for about 96-percent of taxes in New York State, according to the press release. "The remaining 4-percent is collected through the tax department's audit, collections and criminal investigations programs. Through its enforcement programs, the department ensures fair tax administration for all New Yorkers."
