Interim Superintendent Encourages 'Active Participation' from Community

Editor's note: Brewster Central School District Interim Superintendent Dr. Timothy Conway said the following in an email Friday afternoon.

Dear Members of the Brewster School community,

I would like to introduce myself to you and share with you some thoughts as the school year heads into its second half. For those of you I have not previously met, my name is Tim Conway and I am currently the interim superintendent at Brewster Schools. I have been in this position since early January and will continue in this capacity until the end of the current school year.

Prior to serving as interim superintendent, I served for 10 years as the assistant superintendent and more recently as deputy superintendent for the Brewster Schools. During that time, I have come to know our students, their parents and the Brewster community at-large to be a caring and hard working group of people.

My overall mission this school year is to focus on two priorities. The first is to increase opportunities for communication and collaboration among all members of our community as together we work to make Brewster Schools an even better place for our students. A second priority is to plan for a 2014/15 school year in which the very real needs of our students are successfully balanced with the financial ability of our community to support our educational program.

Both of these priorities need your active participation in order for us to be successful, so I encourage you to reach out to me with your ideas and thoughts regarding how we can best meet the challenges ahead. Also, I welcome you to visit our website for a schedule of the many school activities that are open to the public such as our exciting athletic events or our excellent performing arts shows. Not only will you see the tremendous skill and talent of our students, but you'll learn more about our school district and be a more active member of our school community.

As we make our way through this winter and eventually into spring, I look forward to seeing you and to working together with you to make Brewster Schools the best that it can be.
