Haunting on the Hill; Oktoberfest in Southeast; Walking to End Alzheimer's

There are tons of ways to keep busy around Brewster and Southeast this weekend, and we're here to help you decide which happenings are for you. Here are the details for three great events (click on the links for more information). Scroll down to the end of this article for information on a few more.

Haunting on the Hill
When: Friday and Saturday nights (throughout the month)
Where: Thunder Ridge (at 137 Birch Hill Road in Patterson)
Why go? It's time to get in the Halloween spirit! This attraction features a haunted hayride and a haunted village with multiple areas. Catch a sneak peek here.

Oktoberfest
When: 1 p.m. Sunday
Where: Brewster Elks Lodge at 1430 Route 22 in Southeast
Why go? This event will feature beer and wine, tasty foods like brats, sauerkraut and German potato salad and a good cause. All proceeds will benefit Brewster Community Food Pantry. Organizers with the Brewster Rotary ask folks to bring at least one non-perishable food item to donate.

Putnam County Walk to End Alzheimer's Event
When: 9 a.m. SundayWhere: Putnam County Office of the Aging at 110 Old Route 6 in CarmelWhy go? This event is one of 600 of its kind happening nationwide to raise money for Alzheimer's research and increase awareness. More than 5 million Americans are living with the disease, according to alz.org. If the weather forecasts are correct—Sunday looks sunny with a high of about 57 degrees—it will be a beautiful day for the event.
