Bethel Woman to be Remembered in Brewster

Services are slated for Friday and Saturday.

Margaret Colombraro, recently of Bethel, CT, died in Danbury, CT, on Sunday at the age of 97.

She was born April 1, 1914 in Brooklyn, daughter of the late Luciano and Marianna (Ianniciello) Schena. On June 21, 1942 she married Salvatore J. Colombraro at Our Lady of Lorretta Church  in Brooklyn. Her husband Salvatore predeceased her in 1976.

Colombraro lived in Queens most of her life and worked as a Community Board Planner for NY City at Borough Hall in Queens for 17 years before retiring in 1990. She had then moved to California for 12 years before moving back to the Danbury-Bethel area 8 years ago.

She is survived by her three children: Georgette Saydak of Loomis, CA; Kenneth Colombraro of Salem and Bruce Colombraro of Brewster; a brother, Andrew Schena of Loomis, CA; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at in Brewster. Internment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury, CT. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Fridayat Beecher Funeral Home (1 Putnam Avenue in Brewster).

In lieu of flowers contributions in Colombraro's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society (Breast Cancer Research), Concern America (Relief Efforts for South America), the Monsignor McCabe Scholarship Fund or the .
