Primary Results: Castellano, Katz Win

"Unofficial" numbers listed on the Putnam County Board of Election's website Thursday night showed a primary victory for  (R, I, C) a Southeast resident running for the Putnam County Legislature. 

Castellano scored about 75 percent of the 227 votes local folks cast for the Republican line for the District 7 seat. , a Mahopac resident, received 55, or about 24 percent, of the votes. A single voter chose the write-in option.

On the Independence line for that position, Castellano—whose named appeared on the ticket—received 8 of the 25 votes. The rest went to write-ins, whose names are typically released the night of the election.  (D), of Brewster, was hoping voters would jot down his name.

The Green Party line for the position of New York State Senator for the 40th District—which covers parts of Dutchess and Westchester counties, as well as the majority of Putnam—did not list a candidate. It grabbed 11 write-in votes locally. (D — Cortlandt), who is hoping to unseat   (R, C — Patterson), ran a write-in campaign, as did the incumbent.

When it comes to the race for the , Assemblyman Steve Katz, (R — Yorktown) looks to have taken the Republican line in Putnam, with 920 of the 1,398 votes. Dario Gristina (R — Putnam Valley) scored 456, or 32 percent, and the rest—22 votes— were write-ins. 

The  includes Yorktown, Somers, Patterson, Southeast, Carmel and Putnam Valley.

With 81 percent of Westchester County districts reporting Thursday night, Katz had scored 60 percent of the 836 votes people cast for the Republican line.

Katz also took the Conservative line in Putnam, with about 84 percent of the 95 votes. Andrew Falk, of Patterson, is running against Katz, as the Democratic candidate.
