Wanted: Local Voices

If you like to write but are unsure of how a blog works, keep reading.

We are looking for a few good bloggers to share their talents on Southeast-Brewster Patch starting next week. Like to write but not sure what a blog is? We explain more below!

The new age of social media and online news has some funny terms and even though it took a while, it seems like many people know what a “Tweet” is (a 140-character message sent via Twitter). But the term “blog,” which precedes Facebook, Twitter, Foursqaure and more, has been somewhat ambiguous since its inception.

Southeast-Brewster Patch is charged to change that!

A blog is simply an online journal where someone shares his or her expertise, opinion or experience. I like to call it community contribution, but you can call it anything you like.

We are looking for residents or those with ties to the area to contribute regularly to our community website. When I first launched Southeast-Brewster Patch in December of 2010, I envisioned the website to be a virtual Town Green where the community could come together to chat, share ideas, keep up to on local news and happenings, but most importantly connect with our town and each other; blogging is one more way to do this.

So here’s what you need to know if you want to join:

Are you passionate about something in Brewster or Southeast? Contact us! Whether it's food, family, schools, government, business, social issues, exercise, fashion or business— if it's your thing, we'd like you to consider blogging for Patch. Anyone may apply.

I am specifically interested in talking with:

  • Parents, high school students, teachers and professors
  • Local sports fans
  • Bartenders, baristas and foodies
  • Fashion experts, stylists and crafters
  • Volunteers and nonprofit workers
  • Health and fitness experts

Don't be shy! Southeast-Brewster Patch on a mission to recruit fresh voices, and this is a great opportunity to make yours heard. We want to hear what you have to say.

Patch bloggers are not paid and will own their blogs, so if you are already blogging and want to share with our readers, too, let us know. This is a chance to share your expertise and opinions with a wider audience!

Contact me at Ashley.Tarr@Patch.com if you are interested in being a part of the conversation! We hope to see you on the Patch!

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.

Great topics. I really like Mr Jacobs point of view on education. Also "A recipe for aRead More meaningful education." Always looking for more ideas on this topic. After all it is your child education-why not let then be involved in decisions. Look forward to April 12th. Thank you to Longview for offering this great event.
