Bob's Diner Undergoes Renovations

Bob's Diner has gotten a bit of a face-lift, just in time for its 58th anniversary.

Over the last couple of months owner Thomas Sprague has had the doors to the eatery's office and to the kitchen replaced. They match the new wooden interior trim, which replaces the green molding that was there for years.

In the men's room there's a new floor.

The counter is brand new. There are new menu covers, too, and new, compostable to-go containers. Outside the white trim has been repainted and the fencing around the dumpsters will be replaced soon.

"We're just trying to spruce it up," Sprague said, adding that the staff has done a lot of cleaning and customers have noticed the changes. "...Everybody's happy. Everybody's had great, positive comments, which is nice."

The updates come about a year after Sprague replaced a portion of the dining room floor and reupholstered the booths. His brother did most of the recent work.

A celebration of the diner's 58th anniversary party is slated for Sunday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be face painting and the annual pumpkin carving contest. All are welcome to attend and Sprague, whose grandfather bought the diner in 1955, is hoping for a great turnout.

Bob's Diner is located at 27 Main Street in Brewster. The phone number is 845-278-2478.
