Maloney Seeks “Wounded Warrior” for Veterans’ Constituent Advocate

Newburgh, NY -  Representative Sean Patrick Maloney announced that his office has been selected to take part in the Wounded Warrior Program, which provides employment opportunities to disabled veterans in congressional offices. The veterans’ constituent advocate will help constituents interact with various federal, state and local agencies. Only veterans who served on active duty since Sept. 11, 2001, and have at least a 30 percent service-connected disability rating from the Veterans Administration are eligible.

“As a son of a Navy veteran, I’m honored to have the opportunity to add one of our nation’s brave service members to my dedicated staff,” said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney. “The Hudson Valley is home to tens of thousands of veterans – many of whom are forced to fight with our government for benefits they earned. We owe our veterans more, and this position will help even more veterans navigate red tape and bureaucracy.”

Rep. Maloney currently has an advocate on staff to help veterans with educational, disability, retirement, medical, burial, spousal and dependents' benefit claims as well as the correction of military records and medals. So far, Representative Maloney has helped return more than $575,000 to folks in retroactive veteran’s benefits. In addition, Rep. Maloney launched an online page devoted to assisting the tens of thousands of veterans in the Hudson Valley.
