Maloney Statement on Reports of IBM Layoffs

Washington - Representative Sean Patrick Maloney issued the following statement in response to reports of IBM’s decision to lay off employees which could include the East Fishkill and Poughkeepsie locations. In addition to partnering with the New York Department of Labor Rapid Response team, Maloney announced that that he will begin working with other elected officials and community leaders to create a Community Transition Team that brings community leaders and organizations together to leverage resources to help families through these difficult situations.

“This is devastating news for our neighbors and friends at IBM,” said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney. “But I want them to know that their community is here for them, and we will do whatever possible to get them through this difficult time and get them back to work as soon as possible.”
