“POLAROID JUNKIES”
Polaroids by Leonore Rodrigues & Dawn Willis
“Polaroid Junkies” features over 50 images spanning more than 30 years. The photographs included in this exhibit are Instant Image Transfers using a Vivitar Instant Slide Printer; photographs taken using the Polaroid Land Camera 100, the Fujifilm Instax 210 Camera, Polaroid 600 and 300 Cameras, as well as the Polaroid SX-70 Camera.

Leonore Rodrigues never went to art school and she can't draw to save her life. She turned to photography to satisfy her need to create something visually appealing. Film is her medium of choice, shot primarily in vintage cameras.
As a child, Ms. Rodrigues loved the magic of images appearing on the peel-apart film from her father's Polaroid Land Camera 100, and was thrilled when she was allowed to press the shutter all by herself. The Land Camera was put on a shelf, replaced with 110 and 35mm cameras, and sat there for many years. Then one day, it was rediscovered and there was no turning back.

Dawn Willis studied photography and painting at New York City’s School of Visual Arts. Although her early published work involved celebrity photographs shot with a 35mm camera, her medium of choice has always been the various Polaroid processes.
Ms. Willis took her first Polaroid photograph at the age of 10. It was then that a true Polaroid Junkie was born.
Her work has been shown in galleries in Dutchess and Putnam counties, including the 2011 exhibit, “In Loving Memory of Polaroid”. Ms. Willis is the Curator for Studio Around the Corner.
