Peter Yarrow Benefit Concert

Pawling Public Radio (PPR) is pleased to announce a community wide concert on Wednesday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Pawling High School featuring folk music icon Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul & Mary fame).

The concert will raise funds for PPR’s community outreach programs such as those offered by Mr. Yarrow’s Operation Respect, a non-profit organization co- founded by Peter to help create safe, bullying-free environments in schools across the nation.

A chorus of Pawling’s children, from both the public and private school community, will join with Peter as performers in an evening of joyous music and song. These ballads resonate with a history that Peter and his fellow performers, Mary and Paul, made legendary. The group’s classic folk song “Puff the Magic Dragon,” which has sold millions of copies around the world, will be among the featured musical offerings of the evening. In addition, classics like “Blowin’ in the Wind”, and “If I Had a Hammer,” will round out this memorable evening. At a time when society is deeply concerned about the welfare and future of its children, Peter’s performances create an environment that resonates with a sense of reassurance and shared support and acceptance.

PPR has been privileged to bring Operation Respect to the Pawling Community. As a public service to Pawling schools, it’s children, and it’s educators, PPR is sponsoring a year- long initiative that addresses the requirements of the recently passed New York State  “Dignity For All Act,” which  mandates, but does not fund, compliance.
